Pinned assets and mentions

In Catalog you can create references between objects and pages by using the so called ‘pinned assets’ section you can find at the bottom of each readme section in every asset
The pinned assets are a great way of linking 2 assets, for example a business definition, like a KPI, and data assets related to it, like dashboard where the KPI exists or tables from where it is calculated / sourced.
💡 We recommend that every knowledge page should have at least one pinned data asset.
Pinned assets relationships are recursive, the source asset being represented under ‘mentioned in section in the ‘pinned asset’.


Good use of pinned assets can complete a discovery journey, for example when a user looks for a KPI, typically they would also like to see the dashboards where the KPI is used, or, if I am an analyst, the tables where I can find the KPI for further analysis.

One small ‘tip’ is to use Catalog urls when you refer to another asset in a readme page - this will be ‘prettified’ automatically like in the example below.
